ABBYVILLE – Cornelius L. "Kurt" Gaeddert, 100, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014. He was born Nov. 19, 1913, near Buhler, the son of Dietrick and Katharina Franz Gaeddert.

He was a farmer and stockman in the Abbyville and Plevna communities. He attended Medora Community Bible Church.

On Nov. 22, 1936, he married Luella Mae Oyer at Sterling Missionary Church. She died Sept. 15, 2007.

Survivors include: his children and their spouses, Martha Caywood, Hutchinson, Gerald and Doris, Abbyville, and Wayne and Marjorie, Osawatomie; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Gaeddert, and a son-in-law, Ron Caywood.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Dan Dalke presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
