Courtney Ivan Chaney, 43, died Jan. 17, 2007, at his home.

He was born June 27, 1963, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Charles Sylvester Chaney Sr. and Gloria Jean Donnell. He graduated in 1981 from St. John High School and attended McPherson College. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was an independent construction worker and mechanic.

On June 27, 2005, he married Kathrene Rae Meeks in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Zachary Wagner Chaney, Hutchinson; two daughters, Wednesday Wagner and Anastasia Chaney, both of Hutchinson; his father, Kansas City; his mother, Gloria J. Chaney, Iowa; four brothers, Rodney, Hutchinson, Charles Jr., Kansas City, Leroy "Shank," Edgerton, and Derrick Davis, Hemet, Calif.; three sisters, Brenda Chaney, Minneapolis, Minn., Annette Lewis, Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Rosalind Michelle Mack, Minneapolis, Minn.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Eric.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the Rev. William J. Green presiding. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home.
