Obituary

Cyrus C. "Cy" Parsons, 84, died Friday May 22, 2009, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.

He was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Alden, to Cyrus F. and Bertha E. Allen Parsons.

He was a maintenance supervisor at Carey Salt Company for 20 years, he then worked for Garvey Grain building machinery, and then started Reno Enterprises, now Mega Manufacturing, as millwright.

He belonged to First Church of the Nazarene. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving during World War II.

On Nov. 28, 1942, he married Laura M. Kornstett in Shepard Field, Wichita Falls, Texas. She died May 23, 1988. On June 30, 1989, he married Patricia L. Wilson Bergen in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Dennis and wife Linda, Hutchinson; a daughter, Christina Queen, Hutchinson; stepchildren, Mike Bergen and wife Kelly, and Debbie Voss and husband Jim, all of Hutchinson; a sister, Lyda Holt, Abilene; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters and two stepsons.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday May 26, 2009, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Bones Nay presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County or the First Church of the Nazarene, both in care of the mortuary.
