Obituary

D.J. "Dave" Kersey, 88, died Dec. 4, 2005, at Good Samaritan Center.

He was born Aug. 16, 1917, in Felt, Okla., the son of David James and Margaret Virginia Kersey. A resident of Hutchinson since 1958, moving from Wichita, he was a retired pilot and chief mechanic for Koch Industries, working for them for 33 years, retiring in 1982.

He belonged to Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On Nov. 4, 1939, he married Marianne M. Hughes. She died March 9, 1995.

Survivors include: a son, Roderick N. "Rick," Kennewick, Wash.; a daughter, Rhonda Morford, Placentia, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Kersey, Atlanta; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Roger and Warren; three brothers, Berl, Oran and Orville; and a sister, Opal Johnson.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. John Warring presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Wichita.
