Obituary

Dale A. Barr, 80, of Hutchinson, died March 19, 2017, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born March 13, 1937, in Dodge City, to Herbert Giles and Ethel Mae (Leinger) Barr.

Dale graduated from Dodge City High School. He was a hone operator for Consolidated Manufacturing. Dale loved to fish, especially at Kanopolis Lake, and was also a die-hard KU basketball fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

On Oct. 25, 1958, he married Betty Fowler in Dodge City. They shared 58 years of marriage. She survives. Dale is also survived by: daughters, Robyn Ginest (Rob) of Hutchinson, Kelli Pifer (Curt Schrader) of South Hutchinson, Shirley Nyborg (Craig) of Hutchinson; son, Douglas (Eden) of Nickerson; sister, Wanda Larson of Ephrata, Wash.; brothers, Don Barr of Liberal, Gary Barr of Hoisington; grandchildren, Amy (Trent), Melissa (Tyson), Nate (Maggie), Samantha (Ryan), Katie (Brad), Paige (Brandon), Ashleigh (Walter), Austin (Lexxi), Tabitha, and Chance; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters; seven brothers; grandson, Joshua Van Buren; and son-in-law, Larry Pifer.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Michael Gray officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
