Dale Wesley Cavit, 86, died Dec. 1, 2005, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Forgan, Okla., the son of George Hutchinson and Verna Ethel Dewey Cavit. He was a 1937 graduate of Leon High School and attended Butler County Junior College. A resident of Hutchinson since 2000, formerly of Russell (1949-1962) and Lyons (1962-2000), he was a draftsman and mechanic, having worked for Beech Aircraft, Cessna and for Kaw Pipeline Co. from 1949 until his retirement in 1981.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge No. 192, both at Lyons. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
On Jan. 2, 1942, he married Virginia Mae DeWeese at Wichita. She died Feb. 5, 2005.
Survivors include: a son, Marc and wife, Vicki, Lyons; two daughters, Myrna Hulse and husband, Jerry, Tulsa, Okla., and Marcia Hughes and husband, Gary, Valley Center; a brother, Charles Deane Cavit and wife, Dorothy, Campbell, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Louise Cavit, El Dorado; seven grandchildren, Trevis Hulse, Fort Worth, Tiffany Drumm, Tulsa, Andrew Hughes, Park City, Courtney Downing, Valley Center, Meghan Clark, Lincoln, Calif., Katie Schwarz, Pittsburg, and Kelsey Cavit, Lyons; and six great-grandchildren, Ryan Hulse, Fort Worth, Savannah Drumm, Tulsa, Shayleigh Drumm, Tulsa, Delaney Downing, Valley Center, Linsey and Riley Hughes, both of Park City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Dewey.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with the Rev. Cindy Watson presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Liberty Cemetery, Nashville.
