Dale Dronberger, 86, died Feb. 28, 2010, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born July 20, 1923, in Onaga, to George H. and Hazel Bonjour Dronberger.
He was raised in Kansas City, Kan., and was a resident of Hutchinson since 1952.
He was a graduate of Wyandotte High School in Kansas City in 1941. He attended Kansas State University and the University of Utah. He graduated from Kansas State with degrees in Architectural Engineering and Architecture in 1948 and was named the Outstanding Graduate in the School of Architecture.
He served as an instructor in the School of Architecture at KSU and then practiced architecture in Hutchinson for 42 years.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He served as president of the Kansas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, past chairman of the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions, past regional chairman of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, past president of the Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Hutchinson City Planning Commission.
He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II in the Philippines.
He married Jane Tarver of Memphis, Texas, on Aug. 5, 1950, in Manhattan. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jim Dronberger and his partner John Corbaley, Kansas City, Mo.; daughters, Lisa Elder and husband Tom, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Julie Tolle and husband Dr. Glenn Tolle, Denton, Texas;special daughter, Ann Schmidt Cranor, Shawne Mission: four grandchildren, Christin and Katie Tolle, Christopher Elder, Patrick Elder and wife Dr. Emily Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Michael P. Milliken officiating. Family will receive friends following the memorial service in the Parish Hall. Friends may sign the book Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 pm. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. He will be cremated and a private inurnment will be held at the Church Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County or Grace Episcopal Church in care of the mortuary.
