Obituary

Dale E. Martin, 83, died March 12, 2015, at his home, South Hutchinson. He was born March 18, 1931, in Manson, Iowa, to Owen M. and Hazel I. (Peltz) Martin. Dale graduated from Manson High School, Hesston College, Bethel College and Wichita State University, earning a Master's Degree in Music Education. He taught music in Henderson, Nebraska, Attica, and Haven, Kansas before becoming an agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Dale was the Salt Minors Barbershop Chorus founding director, sang with the Kansas Mennonite Men's Chorus for over 40 years, and spent his adult life in music ministry. He was a member of Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson.

On September 6, 1953, he married Norma Kauffman in Yoder. She survives.

Other survivors include: children, Becky Lingafelter and husband Dan of Wichita, Rod Martin and wife Billye of Springdale, Arkansas, and Renetta Frisque and husband John of North Richland Hills, Texas; brother, David L. Martin and wife Gay of Greenwood, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and two on the way.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, and brother, Delbert Martin.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson, with Pastors Howard Wagler and Eric Miller officiating. Friends may sign the book at the mortuary until the service. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, Mennonite Friendship Communities, or Journey Mennonite Church, all in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, Ks 67501.
