Dallas Lew Macklin, 78, died Monday, March 14, 2016. He was born May 27, 1937, in Hutchinson, the son of Gerald S. and Frances A. (Priest) Macklin.
He was a 1955 graduate of Hutchinson High School, attended Hutchinson Community College, and Fort Hays State University. Dallas was a 50-year member of Kiwanis Club, Starr House, Salvation Army and volunteered at First Call for Help. Dallas retired in 1985 from Otasco Tire and Supply Co., with 28 years of service.
Dallas had been married to Bonnie Purvis. She died in September 1990. On June 24, 1995, he married Shirley Louise Banz in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: brother, Harley (Sandra) of Hutchinson; daughters, Gina Meinen (Duane) of Maricopa, Ariz., Karen Kelman of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his wife's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Calvin.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Major James Mungai presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
