Collins Johnson, 94, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 3, 1921, at Clovis, New Mexico, the son of Albert Sydney and Elizabeth (Collins) Johnson.
He was a 1939 graduate of Classen High School, Oklahoma City, and attended Texas Tech and Oklahoma City University. Dan and Patricia had lived in Hutchinson since 1947. He was a member of Church of the Holy Cross and was a retired sales manager of Superior Boiler Works.
On April 18, 1942, he married Patricia Katherine Newer in Oklahoma City. She died Nov. 21, 2011. He is survived by: their children and spouses, Dan C. Jr. (Jo Ann) of Shawnee, Edward N. (Marjory) of Hutchinson, Christopher G. (Cindy) of Waukee, Iowa, Mary Starr Johnson-Gerard (Walt) of Columbia, Mo., Patricia K. Dennison (Max) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jannifer E. Lee (Jim) of Montgomery, Texas; 14 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, James Michael; two brothers; and a sister.
Parish Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Roger S. Lumbre officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Kingfisher Cemetery, Kingfisher, Okla., with Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
