Daniel Earl "Danny" McGill Jr., 79, died March 7, 2009, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

He was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Hutchinson, the son of Daniel Earl and Emma Meyer McGill. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, he opened DanDee Air in 1968, and was the owner and operator until retiring approximately 14 years ago.

He belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 982, V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post No. 1361, and the AMVETS Post No. 11. He was a gifted artist and wood carver. He served in the U.S. Navy.

He married the love of his life Sylvia Irene Henry, Oct. 23, 1952, in Hutchinson. They enjoyed numerous weekends fishing and traveling before her death on May 8, 2001. Survivors include: sons, Ricky and wife Mary, Casper, Wyo., James and wife Elizabeth, South Hill, Va., Mark and wife Kandee, Hutchinson, and Davy, Hutchinson; three granddaughters, Tracey, Cindy, and Morgan; three great-granddaughters, Cierra, Brianna, and Daytryan; and his constant companion, his dog Gizmo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Elsie Cook.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday March 10, 2009, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Joel East presiding. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
