Daniel Charles Duncan, 63, went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2014, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 14, 1951, to Paul Edward and Ruth Marie (White) Duncan in Hamburg, Iowa.
Daniel served in the United States Air Force as a firefighter and was a retired firefighter for Reno County and the City of Hutchinson and was also self-employed. He attended Westside Baptist Church. On Aug. 19, 1978, he married Ann Elise Simmons in Yuba City, Calif. She survives. Other survivors include: daughters, Jennifer Lambert and husband Joshua of Springfield, Mo., Cathryn Bell and husband Aaron of Hutchinson, Sarah Zimmerman and husband Matthew of Hutchinson; brother, Marvin Duncan and wife Connie of Wichita; sister, Rebecca Velarde of Loveland, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, Samuel, Darius, Eve and Cyrus Lambert, Jayde, McKenzey and Emersyn Bell, and Rachel, Micah, Abigail and Adah Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by his mother; brother, James Duncan; and brother-in-law, Paul Velarde.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday with the family to receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Kansas City or Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
