Obituary

Darlena A. Janzen-King, 78, died Jan. 1, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson. She was born Jan. 5, 1931, in McPherson County, Kansas, the daughter of George K. and Helen Andres Peters. She graduated from Buhler High School and Adela Hale Business College. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was a clerk/stenographer for the State of Kansas for 40 years, the last 25 years with the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

She belonged to First Church of God.

On Sept. 30, 1951, she married Henry R. Janzen in Buhler. He died Sept. 19, 1986. On Dec. 22, 1989, she married Joseph R. "Joe" King in Hutchinson. He died Nov. 13, 2003. Survivors include: a daughter, Linnea Janzen, Overland Park; stepchildren, Joseph C. King and William C. King, both of Hutchinson, and Janet Ann Faudel, Halstead; a brother, Leonard "Pete" Peters, Kingsport, Tenn.; three grandsons, Jason Janzen, James Janzen and Brahm Pope; four great-grandsons, Jobe, Jesse, Jacob and Cole Janzen; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Walter C. Janzen, on April 27, 2004.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 5, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor John Carney presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.
