Darlene Buck, 92 died May 6, 2026, at her home in South Hutchinson. She was born July 23, 1933, in Abbyville to Fred Sherman Waddle and Edna Pauline (Krauter) Waddle.
Darlene graduated from Abbyville High School in 1951 and later Adela Hale Business College. She worked at the Reno County Court house before working at Dillons Accounting Offices for 27 years retiring in 2000.
Darlene enjoyed volunteering at the South Hutchinson Church Chicken and Noodle cafeteria during the Kansas State Fair and the men’s NJCAA basketball tournament was something she looked forward to every year. Her favorite basketball team was the KU Jayhawks; she seldom missed a game. She also looked forward to a yearly trip to Branson with her friend Joanne Lehr. She loved Branson and all the shows. Darlene loved her family and friends and it became a tradition to fix Sunday dinner after church for anyone that was hungry.
On July 16, 1955 she married Albert Buck Jr. in Abbyville. They later divorced.
Darlene is survived by her daughters Kimberly Strawn of Hutchinson, Kristi Wineinger of South Hutchinson, Son, Kendall Buck of South Hutchinson. Grandchildren, Kiley (Dustin) of Wellington, Kenzy (Kris) of Hutchinson, Tyler of Thornton, CO, Chelsea of Hutchinson. Great grandchildren, Kristopher, Konrad, Noah and Oliver all of Hutchinson, and her precious fur companion Lizzy that she loved dearly.
Darlene was proceeded in death by her parents, Fred and Edna Waddle, two sons-in-law Wayne Wineinger and Wayne Strawn. Brother's, Bob Waddle and Wife Gayle, Richard Waddle and wife Shirley and the kids father Albert Buck Jr.
Per Darlene’s wishes there will be no service. Friends and family may sign her memorial book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary. Her final resting place will be Abbyville cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Abbyville Community Center or South Hutchinson United Methodist Church in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, Ks 67501.
