Schrock
April 20, 1933 – July 4, 2021
Darlene Schrock, 88, died July 4, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born April 20, 1933, in Sterling, to Oscar Emery and Ova Catherine (Owen) Frye.
Darlene worked at Lehr's, before staying home with her children. In 1979, she began working for Graber Furniture, making their draperies. After Graber Furniture closed their drapery business, Darlene opened "Draperies by Darlene" which was located on Poplar Street in Hutchinson. She eventually moved her drapery business to her Plevna home. Darlene was a strong-willed lady, and enjoyed cooking, reading, playing board games and cards, and sewing for family. Darlene treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On May 22, 1964, she married Billy Eugene Schrock, in Hutchinson. He died August 5, 2019, after sharing almost 55 years of marriage. They enjoyed living in their country home at Plevna for most all of their married life.
Darlene is survived by: children, Barbara Jones (Dwane), Johnny Schrock, Tina Howell, and Wendy Batra (Jesh); sister, Sharan Bailey; brother, Brad Frye (Monica); seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; infant daughter, Patricia Lynn; daughter, Toni Trotter; grandson, Jeremy Ellis; brother, Robert Frye; and sister, Alba Frey.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time Friday.
