Darol Lee Graham, 85, of Carlsbad, CA, died September 4, 2019, at Blue Skies Home, San Marcos, CA. He was born May 26, 1934, in Burrton, KS, to John Anderson and Velma Mae (Hoskinson) Graham.

Darol was a 1952 graduate of Burrton High School and graduated cum laude from Southwestern College, Winfield, KS, in 1956, with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Science. He received his Masters degree in Education from Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, in 1960 and his PhD in Educational Management Systems from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL in 1974.

He began his career in education as a high school chemistry and mathematics teacher, holding positions in Goddard and Medicine Lodge. After completing his Masters degree, he taught chemistry at Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Junior College. While pursing his PhD, Darol worked as an Educational Research Associate at Florida State University. He joined the faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX, in 1974, where he continued teaching and directing graduate studies until 1990. He served as Academic Dean at the California College for Health Sciences, National City, CA, from 1990-1994 and 1996-1999. At Harcourt Higher Education, Boston, MA, Darol was Dean of the School of Health Sciences from 1999-2001. He provided educational consulting as the owner of Graham & Associates, Houston, TX, from 2001 until his retirement in 2005.

On December 22, 1957, he married Janet Marie Hull in Wichita. They divorced in 1994. On July 23, 2011, he married Virginia Buehler in Rancho Santa Fe, CA.

Darol is survived by: wife, Virginia Graham, Carlsbad, CA; son, Stuart John Graham, Houston, TX; daughter, Sandra Graham (John) Thom, McHenry, IL; grandson, Preston Thom, Chicago, IL; stepson, Matthew Buehler, Las Vegas, NV; and Janet Riley, Lindale, TX, the mother of Stuart and Sandra.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Burial will follow in Burrton Cemetery, Burrton. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
