Darrel D. "Dee" Witham, 72, of South Hutchinson, died January 30, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at his residence. He was born March 7, 1952, in Topeka, the only son of Darrel and Margaret (Cohorst) Witham.
Dee earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Kansas State University in 1974 and worked as a computer programmer at Professional Data Services and John Deere for over 20 years each. He was proud member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Dee loved his alma mater and enjoyed watching K-State football. He enjoyed fishing, watching hockey, bull riding, PBR events, auto races and spending time with his friends and family. Dee and Michelle tried to hit every bull riding event they could since he also tried to ride a few bulls in his younger years. Dee had a special spot in his heart for his tuxedo cat, Princess, who will miss him greatly.
On December 13, 2014, he married Michelle Bogner in Las Vegas. They shared 10 beautiful years of marriage before his death.
Dee is survived by: wife, Michelle Witham, South Hutchinson; children, Dr. Cole Witham, Pearland, TX, Dr. Rachel (Kyle) Witham-Kaufman, Manhattan, KS, Mindy (John) Massey, Overland Park; granddaughter, Alauna Massey, Overland Park; sister, Ann (Gary) Blosser, Carbondale; niece, Dr. Jennifer Kerns; nephew, John Blosser; Denise Witham, mother of Cole and Rachel; and beloved grand-dog, Finn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Reverend Dr. Dan Price officiating. Burial will be at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka with details to come later. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cancer Council of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
