Darrell C. Drake, 76, died Nov. 18, 2013, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born March 27, 1937, in Great Bend, to Darrell A. and Avis F. (Pfister) Drake.
He graduated from Pawnee Rock High School and attended Fort Hays State University. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Darrell was in the Machinist's Union, Sons of the American Revolution, and Stephen Ministries. He was in the Rolling Along Army Show Band and Dixieland Band and performed on the Ed Sullivan Show. Darrell retired from Eaton Corporation as a machinist.
On Feb. 11, 1967, he married Barbara Ann McClelland in St. Joseph, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include: daughter, Rebecca Holcomb and husband Bill; grandchildren, Brennen, Brielle, Brooke, and Brody Holcomb all of Shelbyville, Ind.; brother, Dennis Drake and wife Beth of Houston, Texas. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Reverend Jim Rhaesa officiating. Inurnment will be in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military graveside honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
