Obituary

Darrell Leon Edmonds, 82, of Hutchinson, passed away August 29, 2026, at his home. He was born August 20, 1944, in Fort Scott, to Ernest William and Dorothy Marie (Clemans) Edmonds.

Darrell attended grade school in Porterville and high school in Stark. He was a truck driver for many years, driving for several companies and had his own company for a time. Darrell also worked part-time for the city of Hutchinson and Reno County during the summer mowing seasons. He was a country boy at heart, happiest when he was outdoors and building something with his own hands. Darrell loved his dogs and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed shooting guns and taking off on his Harley, enjoying the freedom of the open road. Darrell was a familiar face at the YMCA coffee group, where good conversation, friendship, and a little laughter were part of his routine. He was of the Christian faith.

On July 2, 1982, Darrell married Debra Ann Fisher, in Hutchinson. They shared over 20 years of marriage before her passing on December 24, 2002.

He is survived by his children, Richard Edmonds and wife Marianne of Englewood, Florida, Ann Payne and companion Keola Hutchinson of Hutchinson, Jamie Edmonds of Hutchinson, Karrol Vaughn of Spring, Texas, Misty Grimes of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Zoffia Groh, Ashley Edmonds, Kendall Long, Kylie Edmonds, Olivia Cherry, Josie Cherry, Raylee Payne; great-grandchildren, Lucias Groh, Freyja Groh, Shiloh Long; brother, Glenn Edmonds and wife Marsha of Hutchinson; and many extended family members.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and son, Randy Edmonds.
