Darrell Laurence Gaston, 79, died Feb. 4, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Dec. 29, 1927, in Sylvia, the son of Boyde F. and Viola Shankle Gaston. He graduated from Chase High School. A resident of Hutchinson since 1959, he owned Gaston Feed Transport.
He belonged to Faith Baptist Church, Hutchinson. He was also a member of the Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 A.F. and A.M. and Midian Shrine Center. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1946 to 1948
On Oct. 18, 1958, he married Janyce C. Hiett in Larned. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Tony, Hutchinson; three daughters, Sunny McElheny, Hutchinson, Debby McCormack, Lawrence, and Vicky Cunningham, Vilseck, Germany; a brother, Dwight, Loveland, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1:30 pm. Friday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Melvin Parrott presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
