HUTCHINSON - Darrell "Dee" Keller, 73, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born Oct. 23, 1936, at Pratt, the son of Edgar and Verma Beach Keller.
He was a longtime Arlington resident moving to Hutchinson in 2007, a 1955, graduate of Preston High School, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Carey Park Golf Club, a Free Methodist and retired in 1996, after 37 years of service for Contel and Sprint Telephone companies. He lived to play golf and was the best husband, dad and grandpa in the whole world.
On Sept. 4, 1959, he married D. Lucille Roush at Cunningham. She survives. Other survivors include: their children and spouses, Lyn and Bill McLaurine, Sault Sainte Marie, Mich., Jeff and Patty Keller, Haven; a brother, Glenn, Wichita; two sisters, Doris Breeze, South Hutchinson, Carmen Barnes, Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren, Daniel, Jamie and Andrew Keller, Michael and Katie Keller and Jack McLaurine. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Everett, Paul, Ernest, Lowell and infant Kenneth; and sister, Nadine.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Larry Olson and Reverend Tom (Claude) Griffith officiating. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with family present 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday all at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday in Iuka Cemetery with military graveside rites by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Memorial gifts may be made to the Salvation Army or TECH in care of the mortuary.
