Darren Robert Hodgson, 61, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021.  He was November 6, 1959, in Hutchinson, to Robert and Marilyn (Wright) Hodgson.

Darren attended North Reno Grade School, Hutchinson, and graduated from Nickerson High School, in 1978.  His high school football jersey (Number 51) was retired in 1978.  Darren won gold and bronze medals in tennis at the World Special Olympics in Connecticut.  He loved water and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  Darren was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church, Nickerson.  He was a great soul who knew many, but forgot few.

Darren was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn (Wright) Hodgson.

He is survived by his father, Robert George Hodgson of Nickerson, and a sister, Lisa Kay Hodgson of Hays.

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life gathering will be scheduled at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to T.E.C.H., Inc. or Special Olympics Kansas, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
