Darwin (Sonny) Wiard, age 84, passed away on October 22, 2019, at his home in Clermont, FL. He fought a valiant fight against Hodgkin's lymphoma. Darwin was the son of Ralph and Ellen Wiard and was born and raised in Pretty Prairie, KS.

Darwin was a salesman for Guy's Foods before his retirement. He was active with the Sky Ryder organization and for many years had a food  concession at the Kansas State Fair, That Sandwich Place . Darwin held Board of Director positions with Sky Ryders and the Kingsridge Homeowners Association in Florida.

Darwin and Pat moved from Hutchinson to Clermont FL in 2000. Before moving to Clermont, every March you would find them courtside at the National JUCO Basketball Tournament. Darwin enjoyed attending the KU Bowl games, Final Fours, and 'couch coaching' the Jayhawks.

Darwin is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Pat of the home; two daughters, Tammy Wiard of Clermont, FL, and Tenley Long (Scott) of Ocoee, FL; grandson, Kyle Long (Ashley) of Beaver, WV; great-granddaughter, Kennedy; two sisters, Evelyn Pettay of Rogers, AR, and Donna Stucky (Leroy)  of San Antonio, TX; one brother, Edwin (Bud) Wiard; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Darwin's life in Hutchinson after the first of the year.
