David "Carl" Fields, 95, died Sept. 17, 2006 at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Jan. 24, 1911 in Dickinson County, the son of Wiley Blount and Mary Lou Bullington Fields. He was a 1929 graduate of Talmage High School and attended Emporia Teachers College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1940, he worked for A.D. Rayl Motor Company from 1940 to 1954. He then worked for Four Star Engine Division of Consolidated Rebuilder's Inc. of Hutchinson retiring in 1976 as sales manager.
He belonged to First Presbyterian Church and Hutchinson Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 A.F. & A.M.
On Jan. 24, 1936, he married Garnett R. Chase in Manchester. She died June 22, 1006.
Survivors include: a son, Phillip "Phil" and his wife Gale, Siloam Springs, Ark,; a daughter, Marilyn Kurfiss and husband Bob, Independence; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Memorial service for Carl and his wife Garnett will be at 10 a.m.Friday at Wesley Towers Chapel, Hutchinson, with Rev. Tim Soule and Chaplain Frederick J. Obold presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Prairiedale Cemetery, rural Talmage.
