David S. "Goldy" Goldsmith, 58, died July 1, 2006, at his home, Hutchinson.
He was born June 27, 1948, in Ellsworth, the son of Herbert Sherman and Allie Wetzel Matlack Goldsmith. He graduated in 1967 from Maize High School. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he worked at ADM Grain as a grain elevator operator.
He belonged to the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971 as a BM2.
On Sept. 12, 1969, he married Terri Lynette Turner in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, David and wife, Kellee, Burrton, and JD, Hutchinson; a daughter, Dana Renee and husband, Rocky Smith, Buhler; a brother, George Hasselbring, Jet, Okla.; five sisters, Mary Chinn and Peggy Lanam, both of Hutchinson, Sue Lingenfelter, Jet, Okla., Ruby Holloway, Spivey, and Sheryl Swisher, Wichita; a brother-in-law, Alan Turner, Hutchinson; and six grandchildren, James Dean Lucia, Tara Lynn, Dalton Heiter, Makayla Goldsmith, Kaden Alan Goldsmith and Chelsey Turner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a going away party for Goldy at his home on Friday, July 7, 2006, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Please bring a covered dish. All family and friends are invited. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Valley Township Cemetery, with the Rev. Kim Biery presiding, with military graveside rites conducted by the Naval Honor Guard. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
