Obituary

David Glenn Hoskinson, beloved father and grandfather, 72, died January 3, 2020, at his home. He was born December 22, 1947, in Ville Platte, LA, the son of Donald W. and Estelle G. (Fontenot) Hoskinson.

Dave graduated from Burrton High School in 1965 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1974 and was assigned to the Titan II Missile program.

In addition to farming, Dave was co-owner of Mt. Hope Sand Company, working there from 1974-2018. He loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed bowling, flying, fishing, playing pool and cards. But most of all, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren.

Dave served on the school board of Haven USD 312. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, from 1974-2020, where he was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

On February 7, 1970, Dave married Vivianne R. Swanson at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. They shared nearly 50 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: children, Sean Hoskinson (Elizabeth), Wichita, Christi Weber (Steve), Colwich, Sarah Hoskinson (Phillip Lupton), Lawrence, Brian Hoskinson, Lawrence; grandchildren, Braeden, Hannah, and Juliana Hoskinson; siblings, Dan Hoskinson (Barbara), Burrton, Tom Hoskinson (Kim), Burrton, Judy Deist (Eric), Burrton, Donna Towell (Jeff), Haven, Cynthia Gutschenritter (John), North Platte, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and niece/goddaughter, Catherine Hoskinson.

Parish Rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple St., South Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020, also at the church, with Fr. Charles Seiwert officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Burrton Cemetery, with military honors conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends following the Rosary at the church.
