David Kurt Hughes, 43, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 28, 1967, in Washington, D.C., the son of Clarence and Gisela Schuon Hughes. He was a 1985 graduate of Eisenhower High School and a 1989 graduate of Cameron University, both of Lawton, Okla. He had been an accountant.
On July 9, 1994, he married Julie M. Newton in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors and spouses include: three sons, Matthew and Ivy Newton, Paul and Maggie Newton, both of Hutchinson, Kort Hughes, of the home; a daughter, Krystle Newton, Hutchinson; his mother, Lawton, Okla.; a brother, Michael Hughes, Lakeside, California; four sisters, Linda and Wes Mashburn, Lawton, Okla., Carol and Don Conner, Grove Town, Georgia, Susan Gillespie, Oklahoma City, Annette and Rus Baum, Columbia, Tenn.; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Iris Logue, Hutchinson; two sisters-in-law, Erica and John Kilpatrick, Buhler, Sheree and Tom Gould, Yardly, Penn.; three grandchildren, Lily, Memphis and Corwin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Patrick Mashburn.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Elliott Chapel, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, with Reverend Mark Conard officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to service time Monday, all at the mortuary.
