David S. Jensen, 48, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born May 4, 1964, in Topeka, the son of John T. "Jack" and Vera McNair Jensen.
Moving to Hutchinson in 1966, he was a graduate of Hutchinson High School in 1982 and attended Hutchinson Community College. David was a 26 year employee at Star Lumber and following the closing of the Hutchinson store, he was working for Stutzman's Refuse Company.
Survivors include: his daughter, Bailey and her mother, Monique of Hutchinson; his mother, Vera Mendoza of Wills Point, Texas; brothers, John and Cathy of Wichita, Jerry and Linda of Fredericksburg, Va., Dan and Kathy of Highland Ranch, Colo.; and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack; and his grandparents.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Phil Vickers officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the mortuary. A private family burial will be held at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bailey Jensen Educational Fund, to help his daughter with college tuition, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
