Obituary

PARTRIDGE – David L. Miller, 89, died Nov. 22, 2016, in rural Hutchinson. He was born Oct. 18, 1927, in rural Hutchinson, to Levi D. and Clara (Nisly) Miller.

On Aug. 12, 1950, he married Mary Elizabeth Beachy in Kalona, Iowa. She died Jan. 12, 2015. David is survived by: 12 children, Linda Rose Miller, Miriam Iwashige (Hiromi), all of Partridge, Carol Hodgson (Roberto) of Shawnee, Myron Miller (Rhoda) of Partridge, Caleb Miller (Kara) of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Lowell Miller (Judy), and Lois Mast (Marvin), all of Nickerson, Dorcas Byler (Bill) of Brevard, North Carolina, Clara Schrock of Columbus, Ohio, Ronald Miller (Brenda) of Oswego, Anthony Miller of Hutchinson, Marcus Miller of Partridge; 31 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven siblings, Willis Miller (Susie), Perry Miller, Mahlon Miller (Fannie), and Fred Miller, all of Hutchinson, Mary Beachy (Joseph) of Kalona, Iowa, Paul Miller (Martha), and Emma Troyer (Oliver), all of Partridge. He was preceded in death by: his parents; son-in-law, Matthew Schrock; infant grandson, Friedrich Mast; and siblings, Edwin, Harry, Elizabeth Wagler, and Daniel.

David was a retired farmer and minister. For years, he served on the Offender-Victim board and most recently was involved with Interfaith Housing's ministry. David also served the church on various denominational and interdenominational committees and boards. He was ordained in the Amish church in October of 1954. Most of the years since then, he was on the ministerial team of Center Amish Mennonite Church. David had a passion for the truth of God's Word and making decisions with an eye to the future.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Center Amish Mennonite Church, 7611 West Morgan Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will follow in West Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
