Obituary

David Eugene Lutes, 74, died July 10, 2013, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born Sept. 27, 1938, in Muncie, Ind., to Frank and Pauline (Haynes) Lutes.

David graduated from Wichita East High School and attended San Diego Junior College and United States Navy Service School. He served in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class, Internal Communications Electrician. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dick; and sister, Lucinda. David was retired from Boeing Aircraft where he worked as a liaison engineer. He enjoyed a lifetime career in aircraft and aeronautical design and engineering. Before joining Boeing, David worked for Cessna and Beechcraft. He was committed to excellence and was recognized for outstanding performance by Boeing. He enjoyed serving others and was always prepared to support those in need.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Riley, 5181 Wildcat Creek Road, Manhattan. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday with family to receive from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
