Obituary

David Lee Palmer, 54, died Sept. 19, 2016, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born July 15, 1962, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, to Frankie L. and Silvy (Nitschmann) Palmer.

David graduated from Carrollton High School in 1980. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361. David was a proud military career serviceman. He served in the United States Army and Kansas Army National Guard for over 20 years. David retired Sept. 30, 2015, as Sgt. First Class. David enjoyed gardening, bowling, building, and constructing different projects.

On March 11, 2006, he married Shannon Lee Mosier in Hutchinson. They shared 10 years of marriage together. David is survived by: wife, Shannon of the home; children, Jason and wife Lindsay of Purvis, Miss., Austin of Mesa, Ariz., Tyler of Kansas City, Mo., Quincee Smires of Lubbock, Texas, and Leyton and Bella, both of the home; four grandchildren; siblings, Michael Palmer and wife Jaci of Fountain, Colo., Donna Bell of Linn Creek, Mo., Douglas Palmer and wife Sabrina of Kansas City, Mo.; and parents-in-law, Terry and Sue Mosier. David was preceded in death by his father, Frankie Palmer and mother, Silvy Brooks.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 17th and Main, Hutchinson, with Reverends Michael McGuire and Kim Biery officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
