YODER - David L. "Roy" "Chief" Plank, 76, died Feb. 18, 2010, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born March 20, 1933, in Garnett, to Samuel David and Katie Yoder Plank. He attended Harmony Country School, Yoder. He was retired, having been a former driver for several area couriers, he had delivered The Hutchinson News, and has spent 20 years as a truck driver for Yoder Grain.

He belonged to the Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed bowling and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In August 1962, he married Alaine M. Kralicek in Miami, Okla. On Aug. 23, 1973, he married Donna Dee Griffee in Miami, Okla. She survives. Other survivors include: three sons, Bill, and Carl, both of Hutchinson, and Sam and wife Leslie, Wichita; two sisters, Elizabeth Kauffman and Fannie Yoder, both of Middlebury, Ind.; four grandchildren, Katie Plank, Karissa Plank, Tyler Plank and Lily Plank; and was expecting his first great-grandchild sometime in June.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Clara Yoder.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday Feb. 22, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Alan Stambaugh presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday Feb. 21, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Memorials may be sent to the Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church or the Dialysis Center of Hutchinson, both in care of the mortuary.
