David A. Shimel, 62, died November 14, 2013, at his home. He was born March 11, 1951, in Hutchinson, to Floyd and Maxine Baggett Shimel.
David was a groundskeeper at Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, and Fairlawn Burial Park for many years. He especially loved spending time with his two dogs Dusty and Sammy.
Survivors include: a sister, Carol Heironimus, Hutchinson; niece, Tracy Mims and her husband Michael, Sterling; nephew, Rob Heironimus and his wife Kim, Burrton; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013, in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Pastor John Carney presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
