Daylene G. Meier, 88, died Oct. 4, 2015, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson. She was born April 21, 1927, in Montezuma, to Clarence F. and Leeva (Unruh) Tuxhorn.
Daylene was a member of First Congregational Church, Women's Fellowship, Life Member of the V.F.W., Ladies' Auxiliary, and T.O.P.S. She was also an avid bowler. On July 8, 1977, she married Phillip A. Meier in Hutchinson. He died June 8, 2007. Daylene is survived by: daughters, Paula Mayhill and husband Thomas of Wichita and Patty Hendrickson of Hutchinson; stepdaughters, Melanie Johnson of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Karen Peters and husband Ron of Kilgore, Texas; grandchildren, Corey Mayhill, Michael Mayhill, Christina Mainz, Marc Johnson, Matt Johnson, Vicki Brend, Tim Hauschild; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Dale Tuxhorn of Dodge City and Raymond Tuxhorn of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Charlotte Lynn Hendrickson; granddaughter, Michelle Mayhill-Slater; and brother, Melvin Tuxhorn.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Laurel Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family to receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Fund, or Gentiva Hospice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., Hutchinson, KS 67501.
