Dean Peters, 71, died July 30, 2016, at his home in Hutchinson, surrounded by his family. He was born March 4, 1945, in Perryton, Texas, to Dale and Aline (Baxter) Peters.
Dean graduated from Elkhart High School in 1964, and attended diesel mechanic school in Kansas City. He was a welder for 37 years with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline. After retirement, he worked 13 years for Rose Motor Company. Dean often showered his family with "Five Buck Friday" flowers. He served in the United States Army from 1966-1968. He was a member of CrossPoint Church.
On June 17, 1972, he married Jere Lynn White in El Paso, Texas. She survives. Other survivors include: daughters, Terisa Boaldin of Elkhart, LaDena Russett of Johnson, Valerie Walls and husband Larry of Hutchinson; sons, Stacy Walls and wife Dana of Great Bend, Ryan Peters and wife Kristina of Cimarron, Eric Peters and wife Mandy of Medicine Lodge; sister, Jerry Sheahan of Hutchinson; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents and a sister, Evelyn Cowan.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Paul Thurston officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Cancer Council of Reno County, Hospice of Reno County, or St. Jude Children's Hospital, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
The family invites guests to wear Oakland Raiders attire, or silver and black clothing to honor Dean's love for the Oakland Raiders.
