Deborah Leslie "Debbie" Mosier, 68, died Dec. 14, 2013, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born Feb. 7, 1945, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Steve R. Sr. and Arlene (Leslie) Johnson.
Debbie received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Kansas. She then went on to earn her master's in Secondary Education from Wichita State University. Debbie taught elementary, middle, and high school for 21 years. Debbie was listed in Who's Who of America's Teachers twice and was a finalist for Educator of the Year five times while she taught at Liberty. The last nine years of her teaching career, she worked as a paraprofessional helping special needs students. She was a member of Grace Bible Church and P.E.O. Chapter D.
On Dec. 7, 2002, she married Roger Mosier in Hutchinson. Debbie is survived by: her husband, Roger and beloved pet dog, Piper, of Hutchinson; stepchildren, Travis Mosier and wife Frankie of Lyons, Kevin Mosier and wife Bri of Lyons, Ben Mosier and wife Alyssum of Hutchinson, Hollie SeDoris and spouse Sam of Evansville, Ill.; grandchildren, Jaydon, Kynsington, Ana Karina and Hartleigh; stepsiblings, Dr. William Jennings and wife Alicia, Dr. Charles Jennings and wife Gerry, Jane Peterson and husband Gary; brothers-in-law, Dwain Mosier and wife Kathryn of Flanagan, Illinois, Marlen Mosier and wife Carol, Sammie Mosier and wife Dorothy, and Rod Mosier all of Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve R. Johnson Sr. and Arlene (Leslie Johnson) Jennings; stepfather, Homer C. Jennings; and brother, Steve R. Johnson Jr.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Grace Bible Church, 1221 E. 33rd Ave., with Pastor Rick Goertzen officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
