Obituary

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Debra Bickel Orthwein, 47, lost her one year battle with cancer, passing on Dec. 9, 2006, at Memorial Hospital, Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was born Jan. 29, 1959, in Hutchinson. She graduated from Hutchinson High School. A resident of Colorado Springs, Colo., for 23 years, she worked at the Olympic Training Center, for many years in Colorado Springs, then worked for Home Health and Nursing.

She belonged to the Episcopalian Church. She was a good Christian lady who enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

In 1980, she married Rick Orthwein. They later divorced.

Survivors include: a son, Chase, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Karen Orthwien, Colorado Springs, Colo.; parents, Beverly Whaley Hobson, Cherokee, and stepfathers, Don Dorgan, Stafford, and David Hobson, Cherokee; two brothers, Wade Bickel, Walnut Creek, Calif., and Robert Dorgan, Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Brenda Dorgan Kilbury, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and aunts, uncles, nephews, and lots of cousins.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Warren and Bessie Whaley, Arlington, Virgel and Mildred Bickel, Hutchinson; and uncles and cousins.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service was Dec. 13, 2006 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. June 9, 2007, in Arlington Cemetery.
