Deeva Marie "Dee" Christie, 81, of Hutchinson, died May 10, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Stafford.
Dee graduated from Stafford High School in 1952. She was a cook for Nickerson Elementary School for many years, retiring in 2001. Dee loved to cook, read cookbooks, and sew. Her greatest love was her grandchildren; she made all of her grandchildren Christmas stockings, and she had started making all her great-grandchildren Christmas stockings. Dee was a member of First Baptist Church, Hutchinson.
On June 12, 1964, she married Ralph Bernard Christie in Hays. He died Dec. 15, 2013.
Survivors include: daughters, Kathy Hill and husband Danny of Newton, Janis Kling and husband Mark of Hutchinson, Debra Doerksen and husband Dennis of Rolla, Mo., Barbara Manny and husband Bryan, and Linda Montandon, all of Hutchinson; brother, George Oleman and wife Linda of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith (Keller) Oleman.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Wayne Pittman officiating. Private family burial will be in Stafford Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present to greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at Elliott Chapel.
