Obituary

Deloris Marie "Dody" Avery, 82, of Hutchinson, died September 22, 2021, at her home. She was born February 16, 1939, in Beulah, the daughter of George W. and Mabel V. (Hughes) Crank.

Deloris graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1955. She was a homemaker who deeply loved her family. Deloris also loved painting and decorating her home. She enjoyed playing gospel music on the piano.  Above all, was her love for Jesus. Deloris was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

On October 28, 1955, she married William L. "Bill" Avery in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 66 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: children, Marla Jo Long (Randy), Randall Lee Avery (Jana Sale), all of Hutchinson, Jennifer Jo Kimpler (Gary) of Carthage, NC, Amy Chastain (Craig) of Boston, MA; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Vivian Leach of Greeley, CO; and numerous extended family members.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lorene Burns, Ruby Demoret, Wilma Dietz, Thelma Frakes, Earl Crank, Ruth Crank, Everett Crank, Melvin Crank, and Howard Crank.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.

Memorials are suggested to Westside Baptist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
