Obituary

Deloris Irene "Dee" Nicklaus, 75, died Jan. 19, 2014, at Thorne Care Center Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 8, 1938, in Altamont, Kan., the daughter of Paul Claud and Nellie Mae (Thompson) Wood.

She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1959. Dee was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years. Dee was a homemaker, loved children and was a child care provider for 50 years.

On June 7, 1959, she married Richard A. Nicklaus in Hutchinson. He survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Debbie Goertz and husband Joe of Hutchinson, and Cindy Nolte and husband Mike of Buhler; and a special friend, Teresa Sinklier of Lyons; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Otis Wood; two sisters, Goldie Hanson and Stella Parker; grandson, Tommy Evans; and a great-granddaughter, Ahlayna Pina.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Jimie-Wray Mead presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County or the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
