Dennis E. Carey, 63, of Hutchinson, died June 28, 2016, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Feb. 25, 1953, in Hutchinson, to Clarence E. and Delores J. (Lovett) Carey.

Dennis graduated from Nickerson High School in 1971. He worked for AT&T and Southwestern Bell for over 30 years before he retired.

On Sept. 9, 1977, Dennis married Deatra Chattam in Hutchinson. Dennis is survived by: his mother, Delores Carey of Hutchinson; daughter, Denaye Dies and husband Ron of Lehigh; sons, Dustin Carey and wife April of Hutchinson and Dylan Carey of Hutchinson; granddaughters, Caitlyn Carey and Nevaeh Carey; grandsons, Dustin A. Carey and Wyatt Dies; sisters, Shelley Scott and husband Larry of Nickerson and Cynthia Foulk of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Keith Carey.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Jimie-Wray Mead officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
