Dennis Clark "Denny" Spencer, 79, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. He was born Nov. 24, 1937, in Hutchinson, to Vernon L. and Ruby N. (Miller) Spencer. Denny graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1957 and attended Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, Texas, for two years. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 44 years, until his retirement. Denny was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He was actively involved in the First Church of God for many years, singing in the choir. Denny was also very active in the Reno County Choral Society.
He married Barbara Jane Wallace on May 24, 1958, in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: sons, Steve of Buhler and Chris of Kansas City, Kansas; granddaughter, Molly Spencer of Buhler; sisters, Karen Russell (Tom) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Connie Hensley (Shawn) of Abbyville; brother, Allen Spencer (Luann) of Longview, Texas; sister-in-law, Phyllis Spencer of Austin, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter-in-law, Debra Spencer; brother, Robert Spencer; and nephew, Matthew Spencer.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Kraft officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at Elliott Mortuary.
