Obituary

Dennis E. McKenna, 60, died May 5, 2007, at his home, South Hutchinson.

He was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Hutchinson, the son of Lawrence L. and Betty J. Cole McKenna. A lifetime Hutchinson area resident, he was a maintenance mechanic for Morton Salt Co. for 28 years.

He belonged to First Assembly of God Church, Steelworkers Local No. 12606, serving as past president, and the Christian Motorcycle Association. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in the 169th Infantry.

On Sept. 22, 1967, he married Judith A. Caley in Newton. She survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Kimberly A. Heathcott and husband, Terry, Hutchinson, and Melisa J. Edwards and husband,Ted, Hutchinson; his mother, Betty, Hutchinson; a brother, Gary, South Hutchinson; a sister, Beverly Williams and husband, Jack, Westport, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Ronald Caley and wife, Linda, and Larry Caley and wife, Joyce, all of Hutchinson; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Shive and husband, Jim, Haven; grandchildren, Chelsea, Marcus and Jordan Heathcott, Alyson Savoy, Megan, Lauren and Mariah Edwards, all of Hutchinson; and Jesse Edwards, Rome, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his father; and an infant son, Timothy Shane Ace McKenna; and a sister-in-law, Landra McKenna.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Paul Thurston presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
