Dennis W. Smith's Obituary
WICHITA - Dennis W. Smith, 57, Wichita, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born Feb. 10, 1953, at Russell to Paul E. and Verna M. Loftis Smith.
A graduate of Hutchinson High School, he had attended Wichita State University and Cowley County Community College. He had worked as a tool and die maker for Consolidated Mfg., Hutchinson, Cessna Aircraft Company, Boeing Aircraft and Spirit AeroSystems until his retirement in April 2010, retiring as a tool designer for NC programming.
On Dec. 24, 1983, he married Victoria A. Hess at Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include: his mother; a brother, Howard and wife Anita, all of Hutchinson; nieces, Megan White and Tandy Smith; five nephews, Chris Ward, Troy Smith, Scott Smith, Buck Smith and Jamie Smith; several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Bobbie Eugene and a sister, Carlene Ward.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, at Crossroads Christian Church, 4310 N. Monroe, Hutchinson, with Wayne Pittman and Kevin Guffey officiating. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Cancer Center of Kansas, Wichita or Hospice House, Hutchinson, in care of the mortuary.
