Diane
Beck
November 20, 1944 – August 11, 2023
Diane Kay Beck, 78 — beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, and friend — died August 11, 2023, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. She was born Nov. 20, 1944, to Kenneth E. and Mary (Deck) Crow, and grew up in Abbyville.
A 1962 graduate of Fairfield North High School in Plevna, Diane attended Hutchinson Community Junior College and worked as a dental hygienist. She married Dale Beck on March 20, 1965, in Plevna. Together, they farmed and raised livestock and three children. Throughout her life, Diane actively served her church, community, and her children's schools. At Plevna Community Bible Church, she was church organist, Junior Choir pianist, and sang in a Ladies Trio. For years, Diane volunteered her talent as piano accompanist for local teens in music competitions statewide; and undertook various volunteer roles for Huntsville 4-H Club, including cooking leader. An excellent cook, her baked goods and casseroles were freely delivered to friends and neighbors, always accompanied by a handwritten note of encouragement or sympathy. In 2015, she moved to Dillon Living Center, and later Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson.
Diane is survived by: her husband of 58 years, Dale; her children, Renae J Burt (Kevin), Austin, TX, Carma Morin (Joe), Estes Park, CO, and Seth Beck (Jacki), Plevna; her grandchildren, Tristan Burt (Haley), Evan Burt, Jake and Ethan Beck, and Dakota and Jenaka Parkhurst; and special friends Myron Hunt, Hutchinson, and Karen Snay, Plevna.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Duane L. Crow.
