Obituary

Dixie Lee Easdon, 86, met her Savior face to face on August 29, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends.  She was born April 20, 1937, in Waterloo, IA, to Robert William and Laura Marguerite (Nichols) McCarthy.

Dixie graduated from St. Patrick's High School, Fremont, NE, in 1956. She obtained her Associates Degree in 1987 from Hutchinson Community College and worked as a librarian for the college while attending.

Dixie enjoyed many hobbies including scrapbooking, stamping, crocheting, cooking, and reading. Her favorite was sewing and had a room full of sewing and other craft supplies. Volunteering was another passion. Dixie volunteered at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Hospice and Home Care of Reno County, Open Door Health Services, formerly known as Open Door Pregnancy Care Center for 20 plus years, and for Bethany Church of the Nazarene for 25 plus years, where she was a devoted member.

On November 3, 1956, she married Charles Franklin Easdon in Council Bluffs, IA. He survives.

Also surviving are:  children, Jerry (Judi) Easdon of Hollister, MO, Paula Sue (Terry) Endicott of Broken Arrow, OK, Jess (Kim) Easdon of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Steve (Vickie) Douglas of Broken Arrow, OK; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren plus scores of bonus children.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Pamela Douglas; siblings, Barbara Grasseschi and Bill McCarthy; and granddaughter, Hannah Easdon.

Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Bethany Church of the Nazarene, 408 N Kent Rd. Hutchinson, KS 67501, with Pastor Jason Avery officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson. Friends may sign her memorial book from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Bethany Church of the Nazarene or Open Door Health Services, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
