Dominic Trafficanto, 79, died Sept. 6, 2007, at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wichita.
He was born June 9, 1928, in Chicago, the son of Sam and Felicia Vitarella Trafficanto. He attended schools in Chicago. A resident of Hutchinson since 1991, moving from Illinois, he was a groundskeeper for public schools in Arizona.
He was a former member of Grace Episcopal Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On June 14, 1986, he married Sandra Yvonne Schafer, in Hammond, Ind. They later divorced.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sandra Grey, Hutchinson, and Sherry Crissman, South Hutchinson; a stepson, Leo Ritter and his wife, Kelly, Wichita; a sister, Bernice Trafficanto, Chicago; seven grandchildren; and his ex-wife, Sandra Trafficanto, Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; a sisters; and two grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Winfield, with Pastor Jim Unruh presiding, and military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
