Don E. "Si" Simon, loving husband, father and grandfather, age 71, died July 15, 2010, at Buhler Sunshine Home.
He was born October 15, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Joseph August and Florence Celestine Griem Simon. He was a 1956 graduate of Mulvane High School and attended Hutchinson Community College.
Don was a machine technician working for Master Machine and then retiring in 2006 from A.E.I. He was a member of the Salt Hawk Archery Club and several bowling leagues.
On June 1, 1957, he married Wanda Marie Hayes in Mulvane. She survives.
Other survivors include; daughter, Laurie White and husband Phillip of Geneseo; daughter, Leslie Wilmore and husband Sam of Whitewater; son, Mike Simon and wife Jodi of Hutchinson; daughter, Dawn Stauffer and husband Mike of Topeka; brother, Larry Simon and wife LeeAnn of Galveston, Texas; sister, Mary Zavala of Wichita; brother, Fred Simon and wife Patty of Mulvane; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Mike and Phillip Simon, grandson, Christian Simon and a great-grandson, Mason Holm.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Mulvane Cemetery.
