Obituary

Don E. Williams, 85, died May 25, 2007, at Thorne Care Center.

He was born June 2, 1921, in Woodward, Okla., the son of Earl Winston and Rachel Margaret Coombes Williams. He graduated in 1939, from Woodward High School, and in 1940 from Wichita Business College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1942, he had been an agent with State Farm Insurance for 30 years, retiring in 1988.

He belonged to the First Baptist Church, Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 AF and AM, Veterans of Foreign Wars Bob Campbell Post No. 1361, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, Scottish Rite, Reno County Shrine, and the Midian Shrine. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a staff sergeant.

On Oct. 3, 1942, he married Ollie V. Johnson in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Don E. Jr. and wife, Betty, Vernon Hills, Ill., and Ray and companion, Jeannie, Orlando, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Sam Golden, Fort Supply, Okla.; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Elona Golden.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Gary Salmans presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church, Hospice of Reno County, or to Wesley Towers Foundation, all in care of the funeral home.
