Donald A. Smith's Obituary
McPHERSON - Donald A. Smith, 70, died Oct. 9, 2006, in McPherson.
He was born March 13, 1936, in Aitkin, Minn., the son of Rex Deward and Lillian Eleanor Rustad Smith. A resident of McPherson for 14 years, moving from Phoenix, he was a master mechanic and owner and operator of Apache Diesel Service, Phoenix.
He served in the 121st Signal Battalion in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961.
On May 12, 1961, he married Melba Ginn in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Curt, and Patrick, both of Phoenix; two daughters, Regina Hines, Concho, Ariz., and Lisa Midkiff, Lindsborg; a brother, Michael, Grand Forks, N.D.; a sister, Susan Squires, Plantation, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Smith.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Partridge Cemetery with Pastor Kim Biery presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
